York is a wonderful city to visit. There is a hop in hop off bus tour very accessible from the railway station.
The tour is interesting and full of historic information. There are several ancient gateways from which to enter the bustling streets which are brilliant for a stroll with fascinating shops and cafes for every taste. The buildings demonstrate a range of architectural eras The river flows steadily through the city with bridges to cross providing scenic views.
The Minster is an oasis of calm and a unique example of medieval stained glass windows followed by an ice-cream in the surrounding park.

Highly recommended if you have a limited time to discover the city. The ride takes almost one hour, the guide was super helpful and informative, and you can keep the ticked for 24 hrs and take a ride anytime during this timeline.

This was a great way to discover more about York. It is included on the York Pass, and you can get on and off as much as you want or stay on for about an hour to do the full tour.
It has WiFi and USB charging sockets at your seat.
The recorded tour was interesting, but it seemed to have not been updated to show the change of monarch.

You want the Blue bus as you get a real person rather than an automated voice. Some great views of the city and interesting stories.
Tour takes about an hour. Kept my son and myself entertained as we gave our legs a rest. Didn't attempt to board with wheelchair or pram so unfortunately cannot shed light on accessibility here.

had two amazing & super informative trips on this bus ! same tour guide both times - he kept us engaged and was lovely- it was so nice to be able to walk around and remember the facts ! I have never had a live guide on one of these buses and it really improved mine & my gf's experience 🙂 his Charles & Essex impression in particular made us giggle ! 10/10 would recommend & do again (& again!!)

Friendly and lovely staff- the bus driver and the presenter. Not so long journey, I think about 50 minutes for a full round (only about 4 to 5 stops people hopping off and on during my round).
Did few rounds with stopping at different attractions.
Did learn a lot from the talk on the bus.

Having used the sightseeing buses in other city's and really enjoying it, I didn't hesitate to do it on this visit to York. But, unfortunately we were pretty disappointed with it. Our first ride from exhibition square to cliffords tower was fine, the recorded commentary was great. But when we got back on the bus there was a man doing the commentary that was pretty dull really. Plus, we had wanted to stop near Rowntrees park. Every other sightseeing bus I've been on they stop at all the stops and tell you where you are. Well it wasn't until we were past the Park that the man mentioned it and by then we were too far past to stop. He also missed a couple of other stops. I think this is pretty over priced to be honest for what it is. If you want to head out of town use a local bus and do another walking tour for an informative, entertaining account of the city.
