Had a great time here on an overcast day.. The castle itself is only small but the grounds are nice to walk with a great panorama. The museum is worth the trip. Did a cool treasure hunt for a competition entry. Lots of interesting facts, items and things to listen to. Staff were very friendly. Parked at the castle longstay carpark for £2.10.

Stunning castle and scenery. Peaceful little town. Unfortunately could not visit the actual castle (keep) due to maintenance. The museum however was very cheap, free for under 18s, and great fun to walk round. More like a big house with different rooms themed to suit each story being told. Many cool artifacts such as Roman coins and old items of clothing etc. Overall a pleasant visit with fascinating history - but a shame about the castle keep itself.

Lovey day out in Clitheroe is not complete without visiting the Castle and Museum. The Museum covers all aspects of the local area in including Rocks, Amimals the Castle History including the Pendel Witches, great ifvyou have children and the staff are warm and welcoming. The Castle is set in the lovely town of Clitheroe which looks like a places in the Lake District but without ripping you off for even breathing. We went on a Sunday and found by accident the parking is free. Win win.

Welcoming staff, good initial briefing on the route to follow to see it all. Interesting visit, lots of reading to explain the artifacts. Some video and voice explanations. Activities for children spread around the museum. Sadly the cafe was closed on this occasion.
